Final Race Day Information

Hi Gruesome Runner

The 6th Gruesome Twosome is very nearly upon us. Firstly, please share this e mail with your Gruesome partner, as occasionally they find themselves languishing in the dreaded spam box..thanks.

Please take a few minutes to read through this all important race day information. It will make things easier for you and make it the really fun and enjoyable day that we want you to have on the fab Lincolnshire Wolds.

Your journey to Gruesome Land

Please car share wherever possible. Even if you don’t like your Gruesome partner, jump in the car with them and discuss tactics!

Post code LN7 6DE will take you into Swallow village. The only place to park is in the huge filed on the right as you drop down off the A46. We want to come back for many years to come, so please only park in the field.

Loos

All of the loos are situated in the car park. Please no tinkling in the village….thank you.

Number Collection

You must know your runner number before you arrive at the race. Please look here and make a note of it. If you don’t, the normally placid race organisers have been know to turn Gruesome!

10k NUMBERS
HALF MARATHON NUMBERS

Number collection will be in the play park in Swallow, which for those of you who have ran before is our traditional finish area. Numbers will be available from 9am on race day, only need for one of the runners to collect. The park is easy to find, you walk out of the same gate you have driven through to park up and turn right for about 2 minutes, easy! Other than the aforementioned loos, everything will be based in the park.

Can I run as a solo?

Yes, if your partner is unable to run for whatever reason then just turn up and run, no need to let us know.

Distance to the start lines

The races start in different places and are both around 0.75 miles from where you collect your numbers. These will be well sign posted, but please allow plenty of time for the run/jog/walk down there.

Water Stations

There is one on the 10k just before half way. The half marathon has three stations, these are located at 3.5 miles, 6.5 miles and just before 10 miles.
Every finisher will receive a bottle of water courtesy of Lincolnshire Co- Op.

Do we need to finish together?

Yes that is the idea! Make sure that you cross the line together. You can hold hands, if you like your partner, or do a Bolt or  a Mobot or just simply smile and look like you have enjoyed the race!

Beanie Hats

The famous beanie hats will be handed out after you have crossed the finish line. Failure to wear them in the park whilst tucking into your food/drink will mean having to do a lap of honour on the course! Wear it with pride….you have earned it!

Refreshments

You will all receive a hot drink and either a sausage roll or cheese/onion roll after the race….well that is obvious as it would be a bit daft to let you have it before the race!
These will be served in the park by a team of volunteers. They will work as hard as they can, but you may need to spend a few minutes debating with your Gruesome partner, why you had to wait for them up that last hill whilst you are in the queue!…this means please be patient and enjoy the forecast 18 degrees!

Running Kit

Thanks to Metres to Miles of Epworth, they will have a running stall at the park. Go along and see what Julian has on offer for you all.

Tape2Tape will also have our usual bargain race tee shirts from previous events and their popular socks for you to buy. Nicola’s mum and dad will be pleased to meet you!

Race Crew Volunteers

These are about 100 in number, so please thank them for all their support from the car park attendants, course marshals, water station teams, refreshment team and everyone else who is contributing to make it a great Gruesome day out for you.

Finally, we have really enjoyed organising the race for you. We hope that you have a safe and enjoyable Gruesome Twosome experience!

Many Thanks
Nicola and Neil
