September 11, 2019

Just 4 more sleeps to go until 2000 runners will be hitting Cleethorpes for the 3rd ABP Humber Coastal races. We hope that you are fit and well and looking forward to what is forecast to be a lovely day, with sunshine, a moderate breeze and a high of around 20 degress.

Race Brochure

If you haven’t read it yet then you really need to take yourself off to the naughty step and read it ten times over! It cab be found >>> RACE BROCHURE

Water Provision

We are very focussed on reducing the impact the race has on the environment.

5k and half marathon  runners will receive a bottle of water at the finish courtesy of Lincolnshire Co-Op. These are made from re-cycled materials.

There are 4 water stations in the half marathon.  1 and 3 will have a mix of re-cyclable paper cups and bottles, 2 and 4 will have cups only.

Please ensure that you arrive in a good state of hydration on Sunday, especially given it is going to be a warm day.

Operation Christmas Child

We will again be supporting this fantastic charity on Sunday. They will be located on the Central Promenade near to the race finish area. Please bring along any of your old running shoes and tee shirts. Bet you have loads lurking around your home! They will be put to great use by the charity.

Also, they are in desperate need for items to fill their shoeboxes which go out to needy children all over the world at Christmas. If you would please consider bringing along one item off this list it woud be  AMAZING……

  • All stationary, pens, pencils, paper, colouring pencils, erasers etc
  • Cuddly toys, hat, scarf, gloves
  • Toy cars , football &pump , dolls
  • Hygiene such as soap, facecloth, toothbrush
What have we been up to?

Gosh where do you start??
It has been a frantic week as it always is in the days leading up to a race. Everything is where it needs to be, but still loads to do before Sunday.

On a personal note, it was a disappointing weekend for us as Neil was unable to make the start line for his 28th consecutive Great North Run. Having had knee surgery earlier this year he had not recovered in time to run safely so didn’t make the journey up to Newcastle. He only sulked for half the day and not all of it!

That’s all for now, we will be back soon with another race director ramblings when we hope there are none of you on the naughty step!!

Best regards
Nicola and Neil(not sulking now)
