Gainsborough Morton 10k…is planned to go ahead.
March 13, 2020
We are planning that the race will go ahead on Sunday 22nd March.
We have been monitoring and take seriously, as no doubt you have, Government advice in relation to the Corona virus and the affect it will have on our race. The race is licensed by UK Athletics, who are clear that they will also be guided by Government health guidelines, which as race organisers we will adhere to.
At present there is no direction coming from the Government or UK Athletics that road races need to be cancelled.
As race organisers our advice over nearly 10 years of putting on safe and enjoyable races for you is that if you are unwell, ill or injured then do not take part in the race. We will have a professional medical team at the race to deal with unplanned medical issues, not ones which could be avoided.
In light of the Government advice of Thursday 12th March, if you have a new continuous cough and/or high temperature then you need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms started. The same applies for everyone connected with the race including race crew volunteers, service providers and family/friends of runners.
We also ask that you respect the hand washing advice which is at the forefront of all medical guidelines.
As race organisers, all of our volunteers who will be in personal contact with participants will be wearing protective gloves.
We respectfully ask that you do not personally contact us in relation to this clear correspondence, as we are working flat out to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable race.
We continue to monitor the emerging situation closely and will keep you updated in the event that new advice is provided.
