St. Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run
June 20, 2022
Fancy some fabulous fun at the seaside? Then come and join us at the St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run on Sunday, September 18.
Part of the ABP Humber Coastal Half Marathon and 5K, the one-mile route along the Cleethorpes Coastal Footpath takes in some stunning scenery – and it is wheelchair and pushchair-friendly, too.
As usual we have partnered up with race organisers Tape2Tape to host a shorter race suitable for all the family, of all ages, in tandem with Tape2Tape’s events for more serious runners.
And we are once again proud to offer the first 200 entries into the fun run free of charge.
Gary Allington, the hospital’s facilities manager and community officer, said: “Hot on the heels of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k – which saw almost 1700 runners complete the main course and dozens more take part in the shorter St Hugh’s Hospital Family Fun Run around People’s Park to raise money for seven good causes – we are back before the summer’s out with the St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run 2022.
“This brilliant scenic route is a point-to-point along the resort’s coastal footpath, and the finish line is in exactly the same place as the half marathon and 5K, underneath the imposing archway on Cleethorpes Promenade.
“The course is a mile: long enough to have some fun, yet short enough for people of all ages and abilities to participate. As with all our fun runs, there is no upper or lower age limit, or a requirement to run – walk, stroll, run, push a pram, or take part in a wheelchair.
“You complete the course in your own time, at your own pace… whatever you feel comfortable with. It’s the taking part that counts. It’s also ideal for those who might have been runners in the past, competed in road races over the years, but are looking for something gentle to participate in with the younger generations of their family.
“We get many friendship groups signing up, too, and work colleagues. With free places up for grabs – and a medal, sweets, and a drink for finishers – this is all about community and togetherness, and good health.”
Neil Pattison, from Tape2Tape, said: “We are delighted to be teaming up with St Hugh’s Hospital to organise this one-mile family fun run. It is suitable for walkers, joggers, runners, strollers, or wheelchair users. Thanks to this super support, the first 200 entries are free of any charge; after then, it’s just £2.50 each.”
The race starts at 10am on King’s Road, Cleethorpes, a five-minute walk from the nearby leisure centre. To enter, or for more information and the route details, visit https://www.resultsbase.net/event/5526 and https://tape2tape.co.uk/events/st-hughs-hospital-cleethorpes-family-fun-run-2/
