Race overview

Cancelled 23rd September…all runners have been sent an e mail

We have been organising races for nearly 10 years and have never experienced anything like what we have this year. We absolutely love organising safe and enjoyable races for you, but due to Covid-19 this opportunity has been virtually  non-existent.

Our top priority has always been and will continue to be that of safety of everyone directly and indirectly associated with our events. This includes our runners, race crew volunteers, service providers and the wider public in general.

Whilst guidance is out which details how races can safely take place, we are very concerned as conscientious race organisers about the wider public health and community impact issues. We have recently seen a significant increase in the transmission of the disease with tighter restrictions on our movements being imposed. We are also very concerned about the affect having 1300 runners in the fun run and 10k will have on the tightly knit local community where the race starts and finishes. At this present time we do not feel comfortable allowing a race of this size to descend on the local community in Morton, for whom we heavily rely upon for support to make the race happen smoothly.

As a result it is with great sadness that we are unable to host the fun run this year. We know that you will be extremely disappointed as we are, but we hope that you will understand the reasons why we have made this decision.
It is also our view that the opportunity to take part in live events for the remainder of 2020 will sadly be very limited.

New Date…Sunday 15th November

Update 1945 hours 16th March

FUN RUN POSTPONED…Please read

Hope you are keeping well.

Having listened to the latest advice from the Government we have taken the decision on the grounds of public safety to postpone Sunday’s fun run and 10k. Today’s updated advice from the Chief Medical Officer is clear in that we should all avoid non-essential contact with other people. Whilst we appreciate some of you who have trained hard for the race will be disappointed, we have just moved into unprecedented times and we need to work together as one to get through the emerging crisis.

This 10k and fun run hve been many months in the planning with a considerable amount of work undertaken in our first year to make it a safe and enjoyable Tape2Tape event for you. As a small business who support many charities and community groups at all of our events,  we are now doing our utmost to identify a date when we hope to be able to re-schedule the race to. We will contact you again as soon as we are in a position to do so and outline all of your options.

In the meantime we respectfully ask you not to contact us with your own personal circumstances/opinions about what should happen next and let us get on with the  considerable task of trying to coordinate the many services and key individuals needed to put this race on for you. We re-iterate that we are working on a number of options to try and support all of you.

As caring people we would like to take the opportunity to ask you to reflect for a moment and think about individuals who are affected by the Corona Virus. A phone call or a text message to a friend or a loved one will go a long way.

We are all in this together, by staying strong the country will pull through the other side.

We will be back to you as soon as we have the answers for you.

Best regards

Nicola, Neil and the Tape2Tape Team

March 21, 2020

Firstly, thank you for entering the fun run and hope that you and your nearest/dearest are well in these uncertain times. It is great to see that the country is starting to gel together to ensure we all pull through the other side.

At Tape2Tape we are a very small business, who like many others are doing all we can to keep operating through the turbulent times ahead, as we rely on the work we absolutely love to survive. We will also continue the best we can to support our charities, community groups and businesses who we have worked with for several years, as they will also be in need of support.

We have been constantly assessing the situation with regards to all the events we have scheduled in for 2020. Based on information received from Public Health England via our Event Safety Advisory Group, who oversee all events in the locality, we have looked at when we anticipate it will be safe to put the race on and when our various service providers are available. The race calendar for September and October is swamped with re-arranged races, the 10k and fun run will now take place on Sunday 15th November 2020.

We know that despite our best efforts that this date will not suit everyone for a variety of reasons. Due to the unprecedented reasons for postponement we have relaxed our terms and conditions and come up with a list of options which we feel sure will be acceptable.

To assist us with our processes, the default will be that your entry will automatically be carried over to 15th November. If you are happy with this you do not need to do anything more.

If this is not convenient please read on and take action appropriately.

Run a Virtual Race
Some runners have asked if it is possible to crack on and run a virtual race. It absolutely is and what a great idea. If you wish to take up this option we will post your medal out to you, at no additional cost to you.  All you need to do is e mail info@tape2tape.co.uk with your name and address. We would encourage anyone taking up this option to post your pics on social media. If you take up this option we will remove your entry off the start list. The strict deadline to do this will be 21st April 2020.

TRANSFER TO ANOTHER RUNNER
If you wish to transfer your place  to another runner you can now do so free of charge until 9am on Monday 19th October. Any financial agreement is between you and the new runner, not us! Please follow >>> Transfer Instructions

TRANSFER TO 2021
If you wish to directly move your entry to the 2021 race on Sunday 28th March free of charge you can do so by immediately e mailing Results Base on transfers@resultsbase.net You must state your full name, e mail, order ID and the name of the event you wish to transfer from and the fact you wish to transfer to 2021. The subject line must say Walters Oticians Gainsborough Morton Fun RunThe strict deadline to do this will be 21st April 2020.

With some re-adjustments we will all be able to continue with the sport we love and still get out for a run. Let’s look after each other more than we ever have done. A phone call or text message to someone who may be struggling with the changing world will no doubt go a long way…. do it now, it does work.

Thank you for your continued support, take care and we will see you soon.

Best regards
