We have 2 FABULOUS routes for you from the village of Swallow on the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds that gives you and your partner the opportunity to still run on the Gruesome route without the mass participation element…..How fabulous is that!!

We know how much the Gruesome Twosome means to runners so we have an exciting alternative for you, using super technology, which will mean you can still run a slightly tweaked route with your partner over the fantastic Lincolnshire Wolds, with turn by turn instructions on the route.

BEANIE HAT – We also know how much you love the famous Gruesome Twosome beanie hat so here is your chance to get your hands on this years special edition.

(Please note: if you do not wish to travel you can of course enter and run it virtually anywhere in the world to earn your BEANIE!)

PRIZES – If you’re feeling competitive we are still handing out our usual prizes for this event (see prize tab)

This race is traditionally run in pairs from a sleepy Village called Swallow on the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds, it consists of 2 great multi-terrain routes which include a 10k and a Half Marathon. We are following the same footprint(well almost!) for the Half and have devised a fabulous 10k route that uses the Half \marathon route…..you will love it!

WHEN – You can run anytime between 10th October and 2nd January

  • Run in pairs and finish the route together
  • 10k or Half Marathon
  • Anytime between 10th October and 2nd January
  • Run on the actual Gruesome course following Covid-19 guidelines; Swallow in Lincolnshire
  • OR…a course of your choosing (virtual)
  • Receive your famous BEANIE hat through the post
  • To be in with a shout of a prize you must run on the actual course or one with equivalent elevation; for the 10k a minimum of 446ft of climb and 925 ft for the half marathon.

The 10k and Half Marathon will still be based in Swallow, with a start and finish near to the pub (Social Kitchen), which is well away from the main village population. You can turn up anytime between 10th October and 2nd January with your partner and use our fantastic turn-by-turn voice navigation system which will guide you around the course. We will also provide you with a full written route description so you can’t go wrong! We have run both routes ourselves and it is fantastic!

Why we are not hosting the live eventWe have been closely monitoring the current Covid-19 situation with a view to doing everything we can to make the race still happen for you with safety as always being our top priority. We have considered you as runners, the many volunteers that we need to host the event, the spectators and local community. Operationally we feel that it is possible for the race to take place safely, with a staggered start and full compliance with social distancing. However, as we rely fully on the support and kindness of the Swallow village residents, the majority of whom are elderly, we feel it is inappropriate to bring 800 runners into this close knit village in one day right now. Sadly as a result the live race in its current format will not take place as planned.

Thank you for submitting your details.

We will be in touch with you if more places become available.

Inclusivity

The race is inclusive and we encourage entries from all runners, irrespective of their ability. We encourage anyone who has any concerns about the course and whether or not it is  suitable for their individual circumstances to contact Nicola by e mail Nicola@tape2tape.co.uk or telephone 01472 824894. We will be happy to meet with you on the course and discuss any areas of concern you may have.

Both courses

Both courses are run on undulating multi-terrain surfaces. It is our view that this would make it impossible for a wheel chair athlete to take part in the race. It has unfortunately not been possible to make reasonable adjustments to the route, as there are no alternatives.

Age

We are bound by Run Britain rulings which state the minimum age for the 10km race is 15 and 17 for the half marathon.

Race information

If you wish to receive any race material in a format which meets your needs then please contact us.

Improvements

As race organisers we are keen to improve how we make the event truly inclusive. If you have any queries or suggestions on how to improve our inclusivity then contact Nicola@tape2tape.co.uk or telephone 01472 824894.

You time yourself then upload your times to the entry system. You must enter exactly the same time to the second so we know you are a team together.

Environment

We always advocate a #litterfreerace and of course we know that you are a #litterfreerunner .

Please ensure that you dispose of any litter carefully. Full gel packets fit in your pocket, so please put the empties back in there.
