The start is on the coastal footpath at the rear of Cleethorpes Tap House/Discovery Centre. It follows a straight line all the way back into Cleethorpes, around the leisure centre and onto the promenade.

Due to the works taking place on the sea front, there is a small ramp onto the footpath opposite the RNLI building.

The route is suitable for buggies and wheelchair users.

Gary Allington, the hospital’s facilities manager and community officer, said: “Hot on the heels of the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k – which saw almost 1700 runners complete the main course and dozens more take part in the shorter St Hugh’s Hospital Family Fun Run around People’s Park to raise money for seven good causes – we are back before the summer’s out with the St Hugh’s Hospital Cleethorpes Family Fun Run 2022.

“This brilliant scenic route is a point-to-point along the resort’s coastal footpath, and the finish line is in exactly the same place as the half marathon and 5K, underneath the imposing archway on Cleethorpes Promenade.

“The course is a mile: long enough to have some fun, yet short enough for people of all ages and abilities to participate. As with all our fun runs, there is no upper or lower age limit, or a requirement to run – walk, stroll, run, push a pram, or take part in a wheelchair.

“You complete the course in your own time, at your own pace… whatever you feel comfortable with. It’s the taking part that counts. It’s also ideal for those who might have been runners in the past, competed in road races over the years, but are looking for something gentle to participate in with the younger generations of their family.

“We get many friendship groups signing up, too, and work colleagues. With free places up for grabs – and a medal, sweets, and a drink for finishers – this is all about community and togetherness, and good health.”
