Time to meet Josh

Josh 30 Tape2Tape“Hi, I’m Josh and I’ll be taking part in this year’s Ørsted Great Grimsby 10km – another fantastic local race organised by Tape2Tape!

“In the lead-up to this race on 5 June, Tape2Tape has asked me to talk about how I got in to running. I’ve recently completed a 10k-everyday challenge in January to raise funds for ‘A Platform to Talk’, a Grimsby-based mental health support group that is very close to my heart. I ran over 200 miles and raised nearly £700 in total.

“Ten years ago, the idea of running even one 10km seemed impossible! But all runners start somewhere and, for me, this was through the popular Couch-to-5k plan. This plan is for beginners (or, if you’re like me, a way of restarting after a few years off!) and gradually builds up your running ability until you are able to run a 5km distance without stopping. From this point, I was able to begin increasing my distance until, before I knew it, the seemingly impossible was actually achievable! From this foundation, I have gone on to run marathon distances and have my eyes set on a 30-mile run in the near future.

“This is an ideal starting point for anyone who is considering entering this year’s race and would like a training plan to get them ready.

“I have run the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k for the past three years. One of the highlights of this race is the supporters who line the streets to cheer you on and, on hot days, cool you down with garden hoses! It is a real celebration of the good in our town.”
