THE RACE IS ON FULLY CLOSED ROADS
As race organisers our number one priority is safety. We have a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in place for the race. This is legally binding and prevents traffic from entering the race route and some surrounding streets before and during the race.
We acknowledge that this may cause some disruption to some people, but respectfully ask you to plan ahead, making minor adjustments to your normal routine. You will see lots of people in hi viz jackets at all road junctions. These are volunteers who are giving up their time to make the event safe and enjoyable for all. We ask that you are kind and respectful of these super volunteers.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
We will be going to significant lengths to advertise the road closures to ensure the local community and businesses can make small adjustments:
- Hundreds of letters delivered to residents and businesses on the route
- Local media awareness
- Social media posts
- Advanced signage on the route a week before race day
- Signed diversionary routes
- Scotter Road will be closed between the viaduct/Minster Road and Asda roundabout from 7.30am until 10.00am.
- The section from the viaduct to West Common Lane including Brumby Wood Lane will be closed until 1pm.
- Brumby Common Lane (Farmers Lane) will be closed 0800am to 1pm.
- Burringham Road will be closed from Asda to Burringham 8.45am until 10.00am. Once the runners have gone past Asda roundabout, we will open up Burringham Road, but it will remain closed at the junction of South View Avenue/B1450. It will not be possible to travel to Burringham until around 1pm.
- ASDA Roundabout will be closed from 8.45am to 9.15am then 9.30am to 10.00am. Also see above. Between races 9.15am and 09.30am, Access and egress will be permitted from Burringham Road North and South.
- Butterwick Road will be closed from around 9am and fully re-open around 11.15am. We will however be operating a system whereby any drivers wishing to enter Butterwick Road can do so from the Messingham Road direction, up until around 5 minutes before the first runner reaches the traffic lights.
- East Butterwick – Messingham Road – High Street – the road through the village will be closed from 9am till 12pm.
- East Butterwick – High Street North – South View Avenue, Burringham will be closed from 9am till 1pm
